five.

to my baby who made me a mom,
i can not believe you are now five years old! it is such a huge milestone. you have taught me more in these past five years than i have taught you i am sure. you have taught me to dig deep and really question every single thing i do, in a good way. being your mom is a wild ride full of ups and downs and laughs and cries. you are a such a good, wise, and wild soul. you are determined, creative, inventive, brilliant, and energetic. you have a wild side mixed with a whole lotta sweet. you are sensitive and really feel alllllll the emotions. you are my greatest adventure and i love you more than all the stars, around the world, through the universe, and back.
happy fifth birthday my love!

right now river is all about the legos. he loves building and creating. he loves to paint and draw. having his birthday in october is fitting because he loves all things scary. he is obsessed with werewolves. he loves to dress up and have dance parties. he loves acting. he will tell you his favorite person is his dad. he is the sweetest big brother to his baby sis when he is not teasing her or pushing her away from one of his inventions. we go on a bike ride in the morning and then the park, and then i can take him swimming or to a museum, and he would still come home with a whole new level of energy.

this age and stage is so much fun. river is learning so much and so aware of the world.  he wants to know all about everything. we are homeschooling this year and he loves it. i ask him if he wants to go back to school or go take classes at a school and he said he never will, ever. we just take it one day at a time with this kid;) river is on his own time and does things when he is good and ready. he loves the beach so living in california these past couple of months has been a dream. he has the best laugh, some awesome dance moves, and i could watch him act all day. he is always pretending to be some animal or character throughout the day and we are just happy to go along with his wild imagination.

we got to celebrate this special boy at legoland. all river wanted for his birthday was legos so it seemed pretty fitting. it was a first time for all of us, and its safe to say, river was in lego heaven!
