juicing

i dont know whose idea this is (well, it is actually mine) but the husband and i have decided we need to reboot our systems. after eating out every meal in canada we needed to get our bodies back on track. we coincidently decided to watch a documentary the week we got home called  fat, sick, and nearly dead. its all about juicing. we had the idea before we even watched this, but it just made it that much more clear that we have got to do it....or at least try.

im not into the whole juice cleanse or starve yourself and only drink lemon juice thing. this is not what this is. this is simply a reboot. we are on day 3. im not going to lie, its so dang hard. day 2 was the worst though. i do have to admit it is getting better. we are only doing it for 6 days (until we head to utah for a month) and so im half way there! ugh.

maybe if i write about it i will be more determined to stick with it. if anyone knows me at all then they know i love my sweets. i have a major sweet tooth. this is not what my fridge normally looks like (well half of it does cuz the husband is a health freak, but the other half usually consists of chocolate milk, cookie dough, ice cream..you get the idea). our juices consist of fruits and veggies. only. yum (sarcastically written). i do have to admit the kale, spinach, apple, carrot, lemon is so far the best. the broccoli, beet, and ginger not so good.

the husband is a juice master now. if it wasnt for him i dont know if i could make it. he whips up some pretty great juices and even stays so determined and positive when we forget our juices and go to a 3 hour long movie only to come out with rumbling stomachs and almost death of starvation. only 3 more days...

wolverine, green tea, and salsa dancing

so we got a phone call early saturday morning to see if we wanted 4 tickets to see hugh jackman's show. um, yes please. we had plans to kayak around lake ontario all day so we ran to the harbor and kayaked for a couple hours, which was amazing by the way. we had to literally run from the harbor to the hotel to change and meet up with karl and lesley. lets just say we broke records.

we got to the princes of whales theater and got our tickets which were 3rd row amazing seats. um, thank you:) so the show starts and hugh jackman comes out singing, like THE WOLVERINE. i didnt realize wolverine was soooo talented. he is a true one man show. he was singing, dancing, entertaining, acting, story telling, and interacting with the audience....this is where my story begins.

mid-show hugh jackman comes into the audience and walks over to our aisle. well since the husband and i didnt eat anything all day (from kayaking) the husband quickly made his green tea cocktail (he drinks about two full glass pitchers of this a day) and brought it in his bag. he was sneakily drinking it when hugh walks over and the husband tries to sneakily put it back in his bag.

hugh "what do you have there?"
husband "me? oh nothing. nothing (face turns red)"
hugh "no really, what do you have?"
husband pulls out his bottle and shows him his green tea. hugh was stunned (he thought the husband was trying to sneak a pic). hugh opens it and sniffs around all wolverine like.
hugh "is this really green tea???"
husband "well i added a little peppermint and stevia"
hugh "oh really?! youre so new age. i love it." he put his lips right on that bottle and drank my husbands green tea! "i love stevia. here, try this... (he runs up on stage and grabs his tea mug) its called throat coat. i got it at whole foods." the husband and hugh are just exchanging tea during the show. what?
husband "its good. it has a little bit of licorice root in it."
hugh "youre so new age." (wolverine was impressed)

hugh "david, come with me" oh no. so embarrassing. he takes the husband up on stage with him. he makes a few comments on the husbands muscles and then next thing you know he rips off the husbands cardigan and flings it at me. "ow, owww!"
hugh "so what do you do david?"
husband "uhhhh...i write."
hugh "oh really, what do you write?"
husband "im a writer of.....words" hahhaha (crowd laughs). i actually write screenplays."
hugh "oh do you...well, i dont know if you know this, but im an actor. do you think there is a part in there for me?"
husband "do you want to play a buddhist munk?"
(throughout the show hugh kept referring to this)

then he calls his two backup singer girls to come stand by the husband and then he takes a seat by me. im now sitting by THE WOLVERINE. except the husband quickly yells out, "my wife is a dancer!" hugh turns to me and says, "oh really kelene. well follow me then." next thing you know we are all on stage. the husband, me, hugh, and the backup girls.
hugh "so you dance? what style do you like? do you like to salsa?"
me "yes, of course (duh, anything with you as long as we are touching:))"
music begins to play. hugh grabs me and we start to mamba around the floor. it was kind of big blur. he did ask the husband if it would be ok, and of course the husband was cool with it. next he turns to the husband.
hugh "what kind of music do you like, and dont say any of that new age crap?"
husband "old school rock."
hugh "very nice. band, give us some rock"
all of a sudden we all begin to mash pit on stage. we are all just jumping around and the husband even whips out some air guitar. and then out of nowhere hugh decides to chest bump the husband, which makes him all most fly across the stage. he literally got taken down by the wolverine. so cool. then they do it again and make it a real good one.

hugh walks us back down to our seats and gives me a hug and a kiss on the cheek. im in love:) he thanked us for being good sports while he tried some improv with us during his show. anytime hugh, anytime.
i was really so embarrassed. its weird because i am on stage every night for my job and i love it, but these kind of things embarrass me almost to death.

all four of us went back stage after and hung out in wolverine's dressing room. we chatted with his little boy and then hugh came in. he was so cool. really. not just saying that since we got to dance together:) he was genuinely cool. we chatted for a bit and talked about how our shows are going on at the same time, and life and stuff. the show was amazing. he blew me away. i had no idea how much talent that guy has. so fun. everyone came up to us after and asked if that was planned. really, like 20 people. no it was not planned.
the end.

ps, i didnt let my husband drink out of that tea bottle until i did first. duh:)

world wonder

niagara falls was pretty dang cool. although the place has gotten pretty touristy the falls are breathtaking. we took maid of the mist and of course had to go titanic style at the very front of the boat. it should be called maid of the hurricane because the power of those falls is fierce. there is no way of coming off that boat not completely drenched. we loved it.

we are trying so hard to be sexy in our ugly blue ponchos.

we also drove to niagara on the lake which is a cute little town. we kept calling it viagra on the lake. it is a pretty old town. donny told us all about the fudge so of course we had to get some. maple leaf fudge was all that it was cracked up to be. yum. except we did get a stupid parking ticket in a matter of 3.5 seconds. i ran in to get some water to go on our hike and next thing you know a cop is writing a ticket and will not budge. stupid. the hike was amazing though. only 6k. my favorite part of the whole day. i love hiking and we got to hike right along the niagara river. so cool. i guess youre not suppose to swim but i had get in so i could say i've swam in the niagara waters:) the husband was awesome too because he just got knee surgery and didnt complain once. he's a keeper.

the falls were pretty cool at night i guess. ya right, they were amazing. they're a must see with the lights and the mist. another favorite.

oh last thing, did i mention that the town was really touristy and kinda creepy. i counted 3 wax museums on one block and they had a bunch of haunted houses. weird.

the husband has arrived! i waited for him in the lobby of our hotel until he came rolling up with suitcases in hand. i missed him. we have been exploring this great city nonstop since he got here. we hung out at the beaches all day. lake ontorio is massive. we ate at the breakfast club, skipped rocks, soaked up some sun, chased all the seagulls, and walked, and walked. it was cool to be at a beach surrounded by endless amounts of pine trees.

waiting for the street car on the way home from the beach i noticed this asian lady all dressed up. i told her how pretty her dress was and she told me she is so excited because she is on her way to see donny and marie. of course the husband jumped right in and said i dance in the show. then i got really embarrassed.

we seem to forget about eating and then realize we are starving to death. luckily this yummy and healthy little place is just down the street from our hotel.

i went out on a date last night. ask anyone before i got married and they would all know i hated dating, ew.  for some reason i get super excited to go on dates with the husband though. i have a huge crush on him. shh.

he took me out for some indian food. i must say i am getting more daring with my food choices thanks to the husband. he has been everywhere and eaten just about everything. my new favorite drink, mango lassi. yum.

oh canada, oh canada

check out this view from my room. i love it. we arrived in toronto on monday (yes, the 4th of july, which i was totally bummed about because i love fireworks) and had our 'official' opening night show tonight. yipee! the stage is magnificent. no really, i havent seen anything like it...pix to come, but for now my camera phone will have to do since i left my camera cord back in the us of a.

this city is beautiful. the weather is perfect right now for exploring. today i finally got a chance to walk around and get acquainted with this great place. i found the awesome city hall building, and then got to eat lunch in the square where there was a farmers market, and this nice little fountain to listen to. then of course i found myself shopping at the eaton center. that place has everything! i had to hurry back to get ready for the show or im sure i could have spent all day there.

i cant forget the most important reason i love canada.....they have cadbury mini eggs ALL YEAR ROUND! i was so pumped about this idea that i ate a whole bag to celebrate:) gosh, i love this country. anyway, more to come, but for now i am missing the husband like crazy and cant wait til he arrives so we can explore together.

i went to utah to pick up the husband. my plan was to pamper him and nurse him back to health but i ended up dragging him around to baseball games, bbq's, concerts, and pool parties. he was such a trooper.

so i have the cutest nieces and nephews in the whole world. i am probably super biased but its true. they're like my own. its weird. the twins just started t-ball (top two pix). kade is really in to it and runs his little heart out to first base. so awesome. jaycee thinks everything is a stage and decided to put a show on for us in the out field. typical. i dont know where she gets her moves but im pretty sure lady gaga has a lot to do with it. we are all in trouble;)  kacelyn pitches for her softball team and rocks it. she struck out so many girls. the other team didnt have a chance. ethan is also on some superstar league and we got to see them play in their finals tournament. it was so intense. ethan pretty much rocks at everything and their team is really good. it amazes me how young these boys are and how intense the competition is. they played until 1030pm. crazy. they won both their games. woo hoo.

i got to see joshua james perform at the muse with my sisters and bro and the husband. it was way chill and really small. so it was perfect. my sis and i remember seeing him in salt lake forever ago performing at a record shop with maybe five people there. crazy. also the twins learned how to ride without training wheels thanks to their momma. so we did a lot of riding. they are pretty much experts now, except i dont know how jaycee manages to wobble back and forth and still ride straight. so funny. the husband and i decided to be brave and take all my nieces and nephews and some of his nieces and nephew to the movie theater to see cars ll. there ended up being 16 kids. we filled most of the theater. luckily his brother and his wife, and sister came too. few. how does 19 and counting mom do it? crazy. i love being with family. its one of my favoritest things.
